  • My theory on Chinese manufactured toys

After all this talk about lead and now the "date rape" drug found in childrens' toys I've come up with a theory. I think the Chinese are purposefully selling us these tainted and poisoned goods so that the American children who play with them will have cognitive delays and behavioral disorders.  My conspiracy theory is that they want our children to suffer these ills so that in a generation or so, our entire nation will be full of stupid people (on the level of W).  With the U.S. being led and full of incompetents I think the Chinese know, then their time will come to take over the world.  Is this a crazy theory? I think not.

  • Back to School

After 6 weeks of vacation (aka. waking up at noon and watching reality tv all day) it's finally time to go back to school.  What am I most excited about? Is it the cut in sleep hours? Is it the chance that I may have crazy kids transferred into my class? Is it the hours of planning each week? Is it the dysfunctional leadership, and lack of unity amongst the staff? Or could it be the constant stress that I'm not doing enough for my students? Or maybe I'm just not really excited.
This break is the first time I'm not totally excited to go back to school and change things up for the better. I'm learning I need to move schools.  So if you know of any jobs teaching 1st grade, let me know.

  • "We should go out more!"

A phrase I use a lot.  This weekend I went out with the coolest people in L.A. ...Christine, Francis, Amy, and Sev.  We wandered around Downtown and found some cool spots.  Of course we all had fun, and of course I had to say, "We should go out more!" It seems the 3 times a year I get out and enjoy the nightlife, I realize it's fun and I should do it more frequently.  In my attempt to convince others that they are having as much fun as I am, I use the aforementioned phrase a bit liberally.  No matter how much I say it though, it doesn't seem to take, cause I still only go out 3 times a year.

  • Halloweiner

On my way to a 7 year old's birthday party.  I don't have a costume, but I do have a witch hat, and I just got my nails done black.  Hmm...should I be a lame witch or a normal adult?  I think next year I want to have a Halloween party.  One where I can finally live out my childhood dream of being Dorothy with her sparkly red shoes.  Yes, and we can have appetizers and monster music and spooky cocktails.  In my fantasy world I would have a cocktail party for every occasion...christmas, new year's, easter (we could have pastel colored drinks), presidents' day, 4th of July...really EVERY occassion. But alas, it is not fantasy world, it is real world and in real world I go to 7 year old's birthday parties that have sponge bob jumpers and shrinky dinks.  Off I go.

  • Only 1.5 weeks left of vacation.  I want to soak up all the fun I can in the remaining days.  But that's kind of hard when everyone you know works all day and is tired in the evenings.  Does anyone want to have some fun before I go back to being granny of the year?
